Eye Candy

Jessica Sprague, who is teaching the photoshop class I am taking, turned us on to this "eye candy" site http://designarchives.aiga.org/ . There are some great LO ideas, photo composition... you should check it out.

I am taking a photoshop class

...made just for scrapbookers. The teacher is Jessica Sprague (She just wrote that amazing book for Creating Keepsakes called "Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers"). The class has been so helpful already and we have only been at it one week. I highly recommend taking it, if you are thinking of getting into digi or hybrid. Here are the two LO's we made this week (everyone makes the same one), but they are really cute so I thought I would share them. TFL.

Pipe cleaner winner!!

Flavored applesauce

...who knew you could have so much fun eating blueberry flavored applesauce. My friend Holly took these photos of Riley while she was looking at my camera for me. She is a professional photographer and I asked her to take a look at my new lenses and the settings on the camera. Thanks for these fun and candid shots Holly...can't wait to scrap them.

File Folder Mini Album

I made this mini album from 3 letter size file folders and 12 bird stickers from Cavallini and Co.

(Jane gave these to me and said, "I want to see what you do with these".)

Instructions: I cut the folders in half. I painted green acrylic paint as a background for each of my photos that I cropped to 4x4. I added transparencies from Hambly or Creative Imaginations, the stickers were "thickers" from American Crafts. I used the cream, pink and black ledger paper from Imagination Project as a place for my journaling. I used a few stamps from 7 gypsies (all of these supplies I got at K2). I slipped each file folder inside one another and used a rubber band to hold this mini album together. TFL. (To see every page of the album you can go to my fliker acct)

K2 Weekly challenge

This weeks challenge is to sew! Thats right I said SEW!!! Break out the needle and thread I want to see some stitching on those pages. It can be either hand or machine sewn. Here are a few examples of pages I have done lately where I have sewn. TFL. Oh and by the way...there is a RAK for one of you that completes this challenge :)

The top two are machine stitched and the bottom one I hand sewed the buttons and the pipe cleaner (this is a sneek peek of a scrap n dash, a la carte that I created for next week!).

Can't wait to see your sewn pages!!!!!!!

You know the saying...

One woman's trash is anther's TREASURE!!! A friend of a friend was giving this stuff to Goodwill but before she dropped it off (thank God!!), she stoped by my friend Sherry's house and asked her if she wanted it. She said no (antiques are not her style), but IMMEDIATELY called me (Thanks Sherry!!!!!!!!!) and asked me if I would like "2 old sleds and 2 wooden soda boxes". I said yes, cause worst case scenario I take them to Goodwill, right! Well, what an awesome surprise...they are all in beautiful condition. I gave one sled to my mom and the other one holds a vintage suitcase in my bedroom. One of the boxes holds all my camera stuff and the other box is waiting to find a home in my studio.

Sarge

Who would have thought that this little toy would cost me so much time. When Riley's birthday rolled around he wanted Sarge and Fillmore, the last 2 "Cars" characters he didn't have. I searched and searched and searched for these toys....needless to say on the eve of his birthday I found them. I am not sure who was more excited me or him-LOL!! Today I found out that it is being recalled...one of the toys made in China (and they are using paint with LEAD in it). (picture me climbing up on my soap box right now and saying...) "How can these people sleep at night knowing that they are making toys for children with something knowingly harmful in it"!!!!!! It really ticks me off. (ok, climbing down :)) Now I have to stand in line AGAIN to return this little toy. Thanks for letting me vent.
